The H&B 170-2X Truss Eye-Wire Reinforcement is a high-performance masonry joint reinforcement solution engineered specifically for cavity wall and insulated wall construction. It is ideal for projects requiring strong mechanical bonding between masonry wythes while accommodating insulation systems and meeting strict code compliance.
This system enables masons to construct the interior wythe first, simplifying scheduling and allowing for phased builds. The 2X-HOOK, an integral part of the design, acts as a vertically adjustable veneer anchor that also mechanically secures insulation to the masonry backup. Each hook is 4-point welded to the truss reinforcement and meets or exceeds ASTM A951 and ASCE/ACI 530 code standards.
With a compressed leg hook tested to withstand over 200-lbf in tension or compression—even at the maximum 1-1/4 in. offset—this reinforcement solution outperforms traditional pintle or round wire anchors by more than 100%. The design ensures reliable strength under jobsite stresses, while the 3/16 in. hook diameter satisfies the 2:1 mortar joint-to-wire thickness code ratio.
